Ecuador: Inflation drops further in September

In September, consumer prices increased 0.26% over the previous month, which was up from flat reading seen in August. Education saw the highest increase in prices, followed by goods and services, and transport.

Inflation dropped from 4.1% in August to 3.8% in September, thus hitting a six-month low. Annual average inflation was steady at 4.1% in September, where it has been unchanged since June.

Panelists participating in the LatinFocus Consensus Forecast foresee inflation at 3.8% at the end of 2015, which is down 0.2 percentage points from last month’s estimate. In 2016, FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants expect inflation to decrease to 3.4%.
