Ecuador: Consumer price pressures ease in March
April 7, 2011
In March, consumer prices increased 0.34% over the previous month, which was below the 0.55% increase recorded in February. The main drivers behind the monthly rise were higher prices for healthcare, which rose 0.81% over February as well as for food and non alcoholic beverages (+0.55% month-on-month). In spite of the more subdued price increase, annual headline inflation increased from 3.4% in February to 3.6% in March, the level at which the government expects inflation to end this year.
