Ecuador: Growth in economic activity recovers in March

In March, economic activity increased 3.7% over the same month last year, according to the monthly indicator for economic activity (IDEAC, Indice de Actividad Economica Coyuntural). March’s expansion marked an improvement over the previous month’s figure of 0.2% and was the highest in 3 months.

On a month-on-month basis, economic activity in March increased 0.47% in seasonally-adjusted terms, which was above the 0.22% increase recorded in February. Annual average growth in economic activity was stable at February’s 4.3% despite the monthly gains.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants see GDP growing 1.3% in 2015, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2016, panelists expect the economy to expand 2.5%.
