Ecuador: Economic activity picks up in August

In August, economic activity increased a modest 0.5% over the same month last year, according to the monthly indicator for economic activity (IDEAC, Indice de Actividad Economica Coyuntural). August’s growth contrasted the 2.8% contraction recorded in July and was the first expansion in four months.
On a month-on-month basis, economic activity in August increased 1.00% in seasonally-adjusted terms, which followed the 0.68% increase recorded in July. Annual average growth in economic activity fell in August to 1.2% from July’s reading of 1.5%.
