Ecuador: Economic activity expands in April
June 14, 2011
In April, the monthly indicator for economic activity (IDEAC, indice de Actividad Economica Coyuntural) expanded 1.8% over the same month the year before, which contrasted the 0.6% decline observed in March (previously reported: -3.5% year-on-year). A month-on-month comparison confirms the improvement suggested by the annual figures, as economic activity expanded a seasonally adjusted 0.95% over the previous month, which was above the 0.84% increase tallied in March. Despite the monthly expansion, the trend continued to point downwards, with annual average growth in economic activity falling from 10.9% in March to 9.5% in April.
