Dominican Republic: Growth in economic activity stable in December

In December, economic activity increased 5.5% from the same month of last year, according to an estimate from the monthly indicator for economic activity (IMAE, Índice Mensual de Actividad Económica). The reading matched the print observed in November.

On a month-on-month basis, economic activity in December recorded growth of 1.1%, following November’s softer 0.4% expansion. Meanwhile, annual average growth in economic activity in December mirrored November’s 6.3% increase.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants see the economy growing 4.9% in 2017, which is down 0.1 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2018, panelists expect economic growth to average 4.5%.
