Dominican Republic: Economic activity in July expands at fastest rate in over a year
September 5, 2015
In July, economic activity increased 7.5% over the same month last year, according to a preliminary estimate of the monthly indicator for economic activity (IMAE, Indice Mensual de Actividad Economica). The expansion, which was a significant acceleration over the 6.1% increase observed in the previous month, marked the fastest increase since May 2014.
Nevertheless, the trend deteriorated slightly in July, with annual average growth in economic activity dropping from 6.7% in June to 6.5% in July, thus reaching the lowest value in over a year.
