Dominican Republic: Economic activity growth recedes to 20-month low in October

Economic activity increased 3.8% compared to the same month of the previous year in October, which was a deterioration from September’s annual 4.8% increase. October’s result was the softest growth rate since February 2021.

Consequently, annual average economic activity growth moderated to 6.3% in October (September: 6.8%), which marked a 15-month low.

Lastly, on a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis, activity slid 0.4% in October, which was a deterioration from the prior month’s 0.2% decline.

FocusEconomics panelists see the economy growing 4.2% in 2023, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast, and expanding 4.5% in 2024.
