Dominican Republic: Economic activity grows at softer pace in February

In February, economic activity increased 5.3% over the same month of last year, according to an estimate of the monthly indicator for economic activity (IMAE, Indice Mensual de Actividad Economica). The expansion was below the 5.6% increase observed in January.

Annual average growth in economic activity slowed slightly from January’s 6.8% to 6.6% in February.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants see the economy growing 5.2% in 2016, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2017, panelists expect economic growth to pick up to 4.5%.
