Dominican Republic: Economic activity accelerates in December

In December, economic activity increased 6.9% over the same month of the previous year, according to an estimate of the monthly indicator for economic activity (IMAE, Indice Mensual de Actividad Economica). The expansion was slightly above the 6.7% increase observed in November.

Annual average growth in economic activity was stable in December at the previous month’s 6.8%.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants see the economy growing 3.8% in 2016, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2017, panelists expect economic growth to pick up to 4.0%.
