Denmark: Inflation remains flat in April

In April, consumer prices increased 0.1% on a monthly basis, which followed the reading observed in the previous month. According to Statistics Denmark (DST), the figure mainly reflected higher prices for food and nonalcoholic beverages.

Inflation was stable at a flat reading in April, thus matching the previous month’s figure and remaining at the lowest reading in over a year. Harmonized consumer prices dropped 0.3% on an annual basis, which also matched March’s figure. Finally, annual average HICP inflation in April inched down from 0.3% in March to 0.2%.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect inflation to average 0.7% in 2016, which is down 0.2 percentage points from last month’s estimate. For 2017, panelists expect inflation to average 1.5%.
