Denmark: Businesses turn pessimistic in June

June 27, 2014

The business confidence indicator developed by Statistics Denmark (DST) plummeted from May’s plus 2 points to minus 6 points in June, which marked the lowest level since October 2012. The sharp drop drove the indicator below the 0-point threshold, which indicates that pessimists outnumber optimists.

According to DST, June’s reading came on the back of a sharp deterioration in overall backlog and in stocks of finished goods, while production expectations were unchanged over the previous month.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect gross fixed investment growth to reach 2.4% in 2014, which is down 0.6 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2015, panelists forecast an expansion of 3.6%.
