Denmark: Business confidence rises further in July

The business confidence for manufacturing index, developed by Denmark Statistics (DST), rose further from a revised 3 points in June (previously reported: +2 points) to 5 points in July. July’s print marked the best result since April 2014, and the index remains above the crucial zero-point mark indicating that companies’ sentiment is more optimistic.

Looking at the result in detail showed that July’s reading came on the back of a continued improvement in production expectations. While the order book component also showed an improved, but remains in negative territory, while stocks of finished goods were unchanged from the previous month.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect gross fixed investment to grow 2.4% in 2017, which is up 0.2 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2018, panelists forecast an expansion of 2.9%.
