Czech Republic: Inflation increases in May

Consumer prices rose 1.76% from the previous month in May, decelerating slightly from April’s 1.79% increase. The softer print was largely due to a milder increase in prices for housing and utilities.

Inflation rose to 16.0% in May, above April’s 14.2%. May’s result was the highest inflation rate since December 1993. Meanwhile, the trend pointed up, with annual average inflation coming in at 8.2% in May (April: 7.1%).
