Czech Republic: Inflation eases in November

December 11, 2017

Consumer prices inched up 0.1% in November from the previous month, matching market expectations. According to the Statistical Institute, the rise was mainly driven by higher prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages.

Inflation moderated from 2.9% in October to 2.6% in November. As a result, inflation moved closer to the mid-point of the Central Bank’s 1.0%–3.0% target range. Annual average inflation, meanwhile, increased from 2.3% in October to 2.4% in November.

The Central Bank expects average inflation of 2.5% for 2018 and 1.9% for 2019. FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists project that inflation will average 2.2% in 2018, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2019, panelists expect inflation of 2.1%.
