February 13, 2015

In January, industrial production grew 2.9% over the same month last year, coming in below the 7.3% contraction observed in December. According to the Statistical Office, January’s expansion came on the back of increased manufacture of vehicles and of electrical and transport equipment.

The trend continued to moderate as annual average growth in industrial production inched down from 4.9% in December to 4.7% in January, which marked the lowest rate in eight months.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial output to expand 4.4% in 2015, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2016, panelists expect industrial output to expand 5.0%.
