Czech Republic: Industry deteriorates in November

January 9, 2015

In November, industrial production fell 0.4% over the same month last year, which contrasted the 3.2% expansion observed in October. According to the Statistical Office, November’s drop came on the back of decreases in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply as well as in manufacturing of motor vehicles.

A sequential comparison shows that industrial production rebounded from a 0.5% contraction in October to a 1.2% expansion in November.

As a result of the weaker annual reading, the trend deteriorated in November. Annual average growth in industrial production fell from 5.4% in October to 5.0% in November, which marked the lowest rate in six months.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial output to expand 4.7% in 2015, which is down 0.1 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2016, panelists expect industrial output to expand 5.2%.
