Czech Republic: Industry decelerates in October

In October, industrial production rose 3.2% over the same month last year, which was well below the 8.6% increase observed in September. Last month’s figure was influenced by a strong base effect. According to the Statistical office, October’s increase came on the back of expansions in the manufacturing as well as electricity sectors.

A sequential comparison shows that industrial production fell 0.5% in October, which contrasted the 5.0% expansion observed in the previous month. Annual average growth in industrial production was stable at September’s 5.4% in October.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial output to expand 4.9% in 2014, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2015, panelists expect industrial output to expand 4.8%, which is also unchanged from last month’s estimate.
