Czech Republic: Industrial production slows in September

November 6, 2015

Industrial production in September increased 0.6% year-on-year, which represented a notable deceleration compared to the 6.3% expansion registered in August and the smallest gain in 10 months. September’s results mainly reflects that robust expansions in the production of motor vehicles, trailers and rubber, plastic and metal products were partly offset by a significant decrease in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply.

A month-on-month comparison showed that industrial output in September grew 2.6% in seasonally-adjusted terms, which contrasted August’s 4.2% decrease and marked the largest expansion in a year. The trend deteriorated as annual average growth in industrial production dropped from August’s 5.0% to 4.3% in September.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial output to expand 5.3% in 2015, which is down 0.1 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2016, panelists expect industrial output to expand 4.6%, which is down 0.2 percentage points from last month’s projection.
