Czech Republic: Industrial production moderates in April

June 8, 2015

Industrial production increased 4.3% year-on-year in April, which was a slowdown compared to the 6.3% expansion registered in March. April’s moderation stemmed from a deceleration in manufacturing output as well as in the production of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning. Moreover, the year-on-year contraction in mining and quarrying in April was less pronounced than in March.

A month-on-month comparison showed that industrial output rebounded from a seasonally-adjusted 0.1% contraction in March to a 0.8% expansion in April.

The trend continued to suggest a gradual moderation in industrial output growth. Annual average growth in industrial production fell 4.4% in March to 4.2% in April.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial output to expand 4.5% in 2015, which is up 0.1 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2016, panelists expect industrial output to expand 5.0%.
