Czech Republic: Industrial production growth accelerates to nine-month high in June

August 6, 2015

Industrial production increased 8.1% year-on-year in June, which marked the highest reading in nine months and was an acceleration compared to the milder 2.0% expansion registered in May. June’s expansion resulted from a stronger gain in manufacturing output as well as turnarounds in mining and the production of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply.

A month-on-month comparison showed that industrial output in June rose 1.0% in seasonally-adjusted terms, which contrasted May’s 0.5% decline. The trend moderated somewhat as annual average growth in industrial production eased from May’s 4.2% to 4.1% in June.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial output to expand 4.6% in 2015, which is up 0.1 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2016, panelists expect industrial output to expand 4.8%.
