Czech Republic: Industrial production growth accelerates in August

October 7, 2015

Industrial production increased 6.3% year-on-year in August, which represented an acceleration compared to the 4.6% expansion registered in July. August’s expansion was mainly driven by growth in the manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers, and of metal, rubber and plastic products.

A month-on-month comparison showed that industrial output in August contracted 4.3% in seasonally-adjusted terms, which contrasted July 1.2% increase and marked the lowest value since August 2002. The trend improved as annual average growth in industrial production sped up from July’s 4.0% to 5.0% in August.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial output to expand 5.4% in 2015, which is up 0.5 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2016, panelists expect industrial output to expand 4.8%, which is unchanged from last month’s projection.
