Czech Republic: Economy records solid expansion in Q3

In Q3 2015, the economy expanded a seasonally- and calendar-adjusted 4.3% over the same quarter of the previous year, according to a preliminary estimate released by the Czech Statistical Office (CZO) on 13 November. The reading marks a slight slowdown over Q2’s strong 4.6% annual expansion. Compared to the previous period, GDP grew a seasonally-adjusted 0.5%, undershooting the 1.1% expansion recorded in Q2 and marking the slowest pace of growth in three quarters.The Czech National Bank expects the economy to expand 3.8% in 2015. For 2016, the Bank sees economic growth of 2.8%. FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect the economy to expand 4.0% in 2015, which is up 0.1 percentage points over the previous month’s projection. For 2016, the panel sees GDP rising 2.7%, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast.
