Croatia: Growth in industrial production broadly stable in October

November 29, 2016

In October, Croatian industrial output rose 1.8% over the same month of last year in seasonally and working-day adjusted terms, which came in marginally below September’s 1.9% increase. The slight deceleration was due to weaker growth recorded in manufacturing—the worst result in one-and-a-half years—as well as in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning sector. The fall in the mining and quarrying sector softened, however.

On a monthly basis, industrial production in October grew 1.6% in seasonally- and working-day adjusted terms, which was down from September’s 3.6% expansion. Annual average growth in industrial production in October came in at 3.6%, down from September’s 4.0% expansion.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to expand 4.2% in 2016, which is up 0.1 percentage points from last month’s estimate. In 2017, the panel sees industrial production growth decelerating to 3.5%, which is unchanged from last month’s projection.
