Croatia: Industrial production drops in June

July 29, 2014

In June, industrial output decreased 1.7% over the same month last year in working-day adjusted terms, contrasting May’s 1.3% expansion. The figure mainly reflected that large drops in production in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning sector as well as in mining and quarrying more than offset a moderate expansion in manufacturing.

A month-on-month comparison corroborates the contraction recorded in the annual figures; industrial production fell 1.1% in seasonally-adjusted terms in June, after a flat reading was recorded in May. The overall trend stabilized as annual average growth in industrial production held steady at minus 1.1% in June, the same as the previous month .

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to expand 0.1% in 2014, which is down 0.1 percentage points from last month’s estimate. In 2015, the panel sees industrial production growth at 1.7%.
