Colombia: Exports continue to moderate in September

In September, exports grew 36.2% over the same month last year to USD 4.5 billion, which represents a remarkable moderation compared with the 50.5% expansion seen in August. Exports maintained the double-digit pace of growth for the 14th consecutive month on the back of higher shipments of commodities, such as petroleum and coal, which jumped 52.7% and 86.8% respectively in September. Meanwhile, in August, the latest month for which data are available, imports grew 31.9% year-on-year (July: +32.8% yoy) and the trade surplus narrowed from USD 326 million in July to USD 208 million in August.
