Colombia: Export growth eases in February
April 9, 2012
Exports rose 22.5% in annual terms to USD 4.8 billion in February, which was down from the 24.0% expansion recorded in the previous month. Despite the slowdown, exports increased at a double-digit rate for the 18th consecutive month, mainly driven by stronger shipments of fuels and manufactured products. Meanwhile, imports expanded 17.3% in January ? the latest month for which data are available ? to USD 4.4 billion (December: +13.1% year-on-year). As a result, the trade surplus narrowed from USD 997 million in December to USD 271 million in January.
