Colombia: Inflation stable in September
October 8, 2012
In September, consumer prices added 0.29% over the previous month. The reading was above both the 0.04% rise observed in August as well as market expectations of a 0.16% increase. The figure mainly reflected higher prices for housing as well as for transport. As a result of the monthly reading, annual headline inflation remained unchanged at August's 3.1%. The core inflation index, which excludes volatile items such as fresh food and fuels, added 0.19% month-on-month in September (August: +0.01% mom). As a result, annual core inflation inched down from 3.8% in August to 3.7%, thus still within the Central Bank's target of 3.0%, with a plus/minus 1.0 percentage-point tolerance margin.
