Colombia: Inflation remains stable
November 5, 2012
In October, consumer prices added 0.16% over the previous month. The reading was below the 0.29% rise observed in September but matched market expectations. The increase mainly reflected higher prices for food as well as for transport. As a result of the subdued increase, annual headline inflation remained unchanged at September's 3.1%. The core inflation index, which excludes volatile items such as fresh food and fuels, added 0.16% month-on-month in October (September: +0.19% mom). As a result, annual core inflation inched down from 3.7% in September to 3.6%, thus still within the Central Bank's target of 3.0%, with a plus/minus 1.0 percentage-point tolerance margin.
