Colombia: Pace of industrial production softens in July

In July, industrial production rose 0.3% over the same month of the previous year, which was a slowdown compared to the 2.3% increase recorded in June. However, the reading contrasted market expectations of a 0.5% decline. The print reflected decreases in slightly less than half of the index’s sub-categories. The automotive industry as well as the iron and steel segments registered the sharpest deteriorations.Panelists surveyed for this month’s LatinFocus report expect that industrial production will expand 1.8% in 2015, which is down 0.1 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2016, the panel expects industrial production to increase 3.5%.
