Colombia: Pace of industrial production softens in December

In December, industrial production rose 3.9% over the same month of the previous year, which marked a deceleration compared to the 5.2% increase recorded in November. The print reflected decreases in 17 out of the 39 index’s sub-categories. The result mainly came on the back of deteriorations in the soap, perfumes and detergents industry as well as the machinery industry.Panelists surveyed for this month’s LatinFocus report expect that industrial production will expand 4.2% in 2016, which is up 0.4 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2017, the panel expects industrial production to increase 3.7%.
