Colombia: Industrial production slows in October

December 16, 2016

In October, industrial production rose a meager 0.4% annually, down from September’s healthy 3.9% increase. According to DANE, October’s reading reflected increases in 15 out of the 39 components of the industrial production index. The coking and oil refining category largely drove October’s slowdown.

Given October’s more modest expansion, annual average growth in industrial production edged down from 4.2% in September to 4.0%.

Panelists surveyed for this month’s LatinFocus report expect industrial production to expand 5.4% in 2017, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2018, the panel expects industrial production to increase 3.0%.
