Colombia: Industrial production slows down in August

In August, industrial production (excluding coffee threshing) rose 0.3% over the same month last year, which came in below the 1.6% increase tallied in July. The reading reflects increases in 22 of the index’s 44 sub-categories. The automotive industry, the production of chemical substances and sugar milling made the greatest contributions to the expansion.

Annual average growth in industrial production picked up from 0.8% in July to 1.1% in August.

LatinFocus Consensus Forecast participants expect that industrial production will expand 2.4% in 2014, which is down 0.7 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2015, the panel expects industrial production to increase 3.4%, which is down 0.1 percentage points from last month’s estimate.
