Colombia: Industrial production rebounds softly in July

September 15, 2014

In July, industrial production (excluding coffee threshing) rose 1.6% over the same month last year, which contrasted the 0.5% drop tallied in June. Nevertheless, the expansion came in below the 2.2% rise that market analysts had expected. The reading reflects increases in 28 of the index’s 44 sub-categories. The automotive industry, sugar milling and the clothing industry made the greatest contributions to the expansion.

Annual average variation in industrial production inched up from 0.7% in June to 0.8% in July.

LatinFocus Consensus Forecast participants expect that industrial production will expand 3.1% in 2014, which is up 0.1 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2015, the panel expects industrial production to increase 3.7%.
