Colombia: Industrial production rebounds in June
August 14, 2015
In June, industrial production increased 1.5% over the same month of the previous year, which contrasted the 3.9% drop recorded in May and largely overshot market expectations of a 1.0% decline. The print was the highest in six months and reflected increases in about two-thirds of the index’s sub-categories. The result was mainly driven by a rise in the production of drinks, which more than offset a sharp fall in the manufacturing of petroleum products.LatinFocus Consensus Forecast participants expect that industrial production will expand 2.2% in 2015, which is down 0.6 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2016, the panel expects industrial production to increase 3.1%.
