Colombia: Industrial production rebounds in December

In December, industrial production (excluding coffee threshing) rose 2.1% over the same month of the previous year, which contrasted the 1.0% contraction tallied in November and marked the largest gain in nine months. The print reflected increases in 22 of the index’s 43 sub-categories. Expansion in the production of meat and fish, motor vehicles as well as chemical products were mainly behind the overall rise.

Annual average growth in industrial production in December remained at November’s 1.3%.

LatinFocus Consensus Forecast participants expect that industrial production will expand 2.8% in 2015, which is down 0.3 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2016, the panel expects industrial production to increase 3.3%.
