Colombia: Industrial production expands at slower pace in September

In September, industrial production in Colombia rose 4.0% annually, down from August’s massive 9.4% increase, which had marked the strongest expansion since September 2011. According to DANE, September’s reading reflected increases in 18 out of the 39 components of the industrial production index. The coking and oil refining category largely drove September’s increase.

Despite September’s more modest expansion, the annual average growth in industrial production was stable at August’s 4.3%

Panelists surveyed for this month’s LatinFocus report expect industrial production to expand 5.4% in 2016, which is down 0.4 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2017, the panel expects industrial production to increase 3.8%, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast.
