Colombia: Industrial production drops in June

In June, industrial production (excluding coffee threshing) fell 0.6% over the same month last year, which contrasted the 2.0% expansion tallied in May. In addition, the expansion came in below the 3.2% rise that market analysts had expected. The reading reflects decreases in 21 of the index’s 44 sub-categories. Oil refining and the production of chemical substances made the greatest contributions to the contraction.

Annual average variation in industrial production rose from 0.3% in May to 0.7% in June.

LatinFocus Consensus Forecast participants expect that industrial production will expand 3.0% in 2014, which is up 0.3 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2015, the panel expects industrial production to increase 3.6%.
