Colombia: Industrial production decelerates in December
February 24, 2011
In December, industrial production added 4.0% over the same month the previous year. The increase came in below the revised 4.4% growth in production registered in November (previously reported: +4.5% year-on-year) but was exactly in line with market analysts' expectations. In the full year 2010, industrial production grew 4.6%, rebounding from the 5.5% contraction recorded in 2009. A month-on-month analysis points to a steeper slowdown than implied by the annual figures, as industrial production contracted 2.57% over the previous month (November: +0.65% month-on-month). Nevertheless, the trend continues to improve, with annual average growth in industrial production, inching up from 4.5% in November to 4.6% in December.
