Colombia: Consumer confidence improves in May

June 7, 2022

Consumer confidence rose to minus 14.7 in May from April's minus 17.5. As a result, the index moved closer to the 0-threshold, pointing to improving, albeit still pessimistic, sentiment among consumers.

The uptick came on the back of an improvement in consumers' views of their economic situation and the country's general economic condition in the coming 12-month period.

LatinFocus Consensus Forecast participants see private consumption expanding 5.0% in 2022, which is up 0.2 percentage points from last month’s forecast. In 2023, private consumption growth is seen at 2.6%.
