Colombia: Consumer confidence improves in July
August 10, 2012
The Fedesarrollo index of consumer sentiment improved in July, rising from 20.6 points in June to 23.2 points. Despite the improvement, consumer confidence is 4.3 points below the level observed in the same month last year. The monthly result reflected an improvement in both components of the index. The consumer expectations sub-index, rose from 25.1 points in June to 28.0 points in July, while the economic conditions sub-index reached 15.9 points, up from the 13.8 points recorded in the previous month. At the current level, the consumer confidence index remains well above the 0-point threshold that separates pessimism from optimism, which bodes well for private consumption going forward.
