Colombia: Consumer confidence deteriorates in August
September 9, 2011
In August, the Fedesarrollo index of consumer sentiment fell to 24.9 points (July: +27.5 points), after remaining broadly stable in the previous month. The monthly drop was broad-based as all the main components deteriorated over the previous month. The component reflecting the economic situation of households declined sharply from 23.6 points in July to 17.5 points in August, while the consumer expectations sub-index fell by 0.3 points to settle at 29.8 points. That said, the consumer confidence index remained well above the 0-point threshold that separates pessimism from optimism.
