China: House prices accelerate to six-month high in April

House prices in 70 large- and medium-sized cities rose 0.7% in April from the previous month, according to a weighted average index calculated by Thomson Reuters from data issued by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). The print was above the 0.6% increase observed in the previous month and marked a six-month high. According to the NBS, the sale price of newly-constructed residential buildings increased in 58 cities (62 in March), declined in 8 cities and was unchanged in 4.

House prices rose 10.7% annually in April, which was below March’s 11.3% increase and marked an eight-month low. Annual average growth in house prices rose from 10.1% in March to a new record high of 10.5% in April.
