Chile: Business confidence reaches lowest level in more than five years
August 6, 2014
In July, the business confidence index (IMCE, Indicador Mensual de Confianza Empresarial) published by Icare and the Universidad Adolfo Ibañez fell from 43.7 points in June to 42.2 points, which marked the lowest level since May 2009. Business confidence is now further below the 50-point threshold that separates pessimism from optimism.
July’s figure was driven by deterioration in all of the sub-components of the index, where trade and mining recorded the biggest drops compared to the previous month.
