Canada: Increase in house prices slows in September

The Teranet-National Bank National Composite House Price index rose 0.3% in September over the previous month, coming in below August’s 0.8% increase and representing the lowest monthly gain in six months. The countrywide index increased to a record high of 167.6 points.

Regarding regional developments, housing prices rose in 6 of the 11 metropolitan markets surveyed and the largest gain was recorded in Calgary. On an annual basis, house prices rose 5.4% in September, which exceeded August’s 5.0% increase.
