Canada: Increase in house prices slows in October

The Teranet-National Bank National Composite House Price index rose 0.2% in October over the previous month, coming in below September’s 0.3% increase and representing the lowest monthly gain in seven months. The countrywide index increased to a record high of 168.0 points.

Regarding regional developments, housing prices rose in 5 of the 11 metropolitan markets surveyed and the largest gain was recorded in Vancouver. On an annual basis, house prices rose 5.4% in October, which mirrored September’s result.
