Bulgaria: Inflation moderates in July

Consumer prices rose 0.3% in July compared to the previous month, contrasting June’s 0.5% decrease. According to the Statistical Institute, the increase reflected higher prices in 7 out of 12 categories that make up the index.

On an annual basis, inflation came in at 1.3% in July (June: +1.9% year-on-year). Despite July’s decline, the annual average variation in consumer prices increased from 0.8% in June to 0.9% in July.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants expect consumer prices to fall by 1.4% in 2017, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. In 2018, panelists expect inflation of 2.1%.
