Bulgaria: Decrease in consumer prices softens in October

In October, consumer prices rose 0.89% over the previous month, which contrasted the 0.16% decrease tallied in September. According to the National Statistical Institute, the largest increases in consumer prices were recorded in clothing and footwear, as well as in housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels.

Consumer prices in October fell 0.4% over the same month last year (September: -0.8% year-on-year). October’s figure marked the 15th consecutive drop in consumer prices. Annual average consumer prices fell 1.6% in October, which mirrored September’s result.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants see inflation ending 2014 at 0.0%, which is down 0.3 percentage points from last month’s forecast. In 2015, panelists expect inflation to be 1.6%, which is down 0.2 percentage points from last month’s forecast.
