Bulgaria: Consumer prices remain stable in August

September 30, 2015

In August, consumer prices were stable over the previous month, which followed July’s 0.2% decrease and marked a four-month high. According to the National Statistical Institute, the result mainly came on the back of an increase in prices of food and non-alcoholic drinks, which offset a decrease in prices of clothing and footwear.

Consumer prices were stable annually in August, which was above the 0.2% decrease tallied in July. As a consequence, annual average consumer prices inched up from July’s 0.3% drop to a 0.2% fall in August and marked the highest reading since February 2014.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants see inflation at 0.5% in 2015, which is down 0.1 percentage points from last month’s forecast. In 2016, panelists expect inflation to be 1.5%.
