Bulgaria Inflation February 2016

Bulgaria: Consumer prices inch down in February

March 14, 2016

In February, consumer prices fell 0.3% over the previous month, which was down from January’s flat result. According to the National Statistical Institute, the reading is the result of broadly stable prices in most categories. The small increase in the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages did not offset the decreases in prices for clothing and footwear and for transport.

On an annual basis, consumer prices fell 0.5% in February, in which followed January’s flat reading. Meanwhile, annual average consumer prices in February matched January’s flat growth.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants see inflation at 1.2% in 2016, which is down 0.1 percentage points from last month’s forecast. In 2017, panelists expect inflation of 1.9%.
